Our Approach to Private Guiding in Girona

Girona is one of Europe’s most respected cycling destinations

- known for its quiet roads, legendary climbs, and extensive gravel network. But what truly makes a ride special here is knowing where, when, and how to ride.

As private cycling guides based in Girona, we offer fully personalized riding experiences designed around your fitness, interests, and goals.

Every ride is planned individually — from route choice and distance to pace, terrain, and café stops — ensuring an experience that feels natural, flowing, and unforgettable.

Local Knowledge Built on Experience

Living and riding in Girona year-round gives us an intimate understanding of the region. We know the small roads that avoid traffic, the climbs that suit different abilities, the best times of day to ride, and the cafés where cyclists gather.

Over the years, we’ve built strong connections within the local cycling community and explored the surrounding areas extensively — on road bikes, gravel bikes, and during multi-day adventures. This depth of local knowledge allows us to create rides that go far beyond standard routes or generic tours.

Our Guiding Philosophy

No two cyclists are the same — and no two rides should be either.
Our approach to private cycling guiding in Girona is simple:
  • Listen carefully to your goals, experience, and expectations

  • Design routes that match your fitness, interests, and available time

  • Adapt pace, distance, and terrain throughout the ride

  • One-on-one guiding or private small groups

  • Share local insight, not just directions

My name is Helena Santacreu. I was born in Barcelona, but eight years ago I followed my heart—and my bike—to Girona. Cycling has been my passion for more than 25 years, and this region has become my playground, my home, and my source of inspiration.

Over the years, I’ve explored every corner of Girona on two wheels, discovering breathtaking landscapes, hidden backroads, and charming little cafés where the locals always have a story to share. Through cycling, I’ve become deeply connected with the local community and the vibrant cycling culture here. I’ve even had the chance to work with a professional American team—an experience that fueled my love for the sport even more.

I was an early gravel pioneer, long before it became a trend. I’ve raced in gravel and on the road, always driven by curiosity and a desire to push myself. I’m also one of the founders of Girona Gravel Girls, a women’s gravel cycling group that has grown into a beautiful community of more than 300 women. Seeing this movement grow has been one of my proudest achievements.

Cycling, for me, is everything: a connection to nature, a source of health and balance, a way to travel, to make friends, to have fun, to explore—and sometimes, to test your limits just to see what you’re capable of.

My name is Heine Christensen, I’m originally from Denmark, but Spain has been my home for the past 19 years. During that time, I’ve lived and ridden in many different regions — from Barcelona and wider Catalunya to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, and now Girona — a region that has become my home and the heart of my cycling life.

I’ve been cycling seriously for the last nine years, with a deep passion for road riding, multi-day bike-packing adventures, and gravel cycling. I’m especially drawn to long climbs and mountain passes, and I’ve spent countless days riding iconic cols across Europe — always curious to see what’s beyond the next summit. Today, Girona offers the perfect base to enjoy beautiful road climbs, quiet backroads, and extensive gravel networks creating unforgettable memories.

What motivates me as a cycling guide in Girona, is the joy of sharing these places with others. The areas surrounding Girona offer an incredible variety of terrain and landscapes, and gravel cycling in particular provides a unique way of seeing them — slower, quieter, and more connected to the environment.
